So you had one of those hectic parties and some idiot decided to put his cigarette out on your carpet. And blow me down if its not slap bang in the lounge for all to see. Help!!!
Here’s a quick and easy repair tip
If you are lucky enough to have some scrap carpeting (same as the damaged one) lying around then this job is no problem. If however you are not that lucky you may have to resort to removing a small piece of carpet from an unobtrusive area. This is not the best remedy but certainly far less costly than replacing the entire carpet.
- Cut a patch of carpet that is larger than the area that needs repairing.
- Find a metal lid or other circular object, slightly larger than repair area. Cut around it, using a stanley knife, through both the carpet patch and the carpet below.
- Remove the cut circle of damaged carpet and replace with new piece using contact adhesive to secure.
And voila, no more burn mark. You might want to ban smoking inside your home, especially during a party.
Do-it-yourself can really help you save money but it's important to consider a professional when it comes to complicated repairs to avoid further damage on the carpets.
