Ever tried to fit a towel rail to a tiled wall? Drilled holes only to land up with cracked or broken tiles? A bugger, especially if you can’t replace the tiles as you have no spare and they are no longer stocked.
Give this handy tip a try to avoid such mishaps.
- Apply a 2 strips of masking tape in cross on the area you need the hole.
- Mark the point for the hole with a marking pen (this should be on the tape)
- Using a tile drill bit, start on low speed and slowly increase speed drilling till you are through the tile
- Replace tile bit with masonry bit of required size and continue drilling to depth required.
- Remove tape, vacuum dust and insert plug and then your fitting.
